Terms of Use

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between Luminescent (“we”, “us”), the maker of Lumio School OS, and the school that registers for Lumio School OS (“you”, “the school”). The person who registers the school confirms that they have the authority to accept these terms for the school. Everyone the school adds as a user must also follow them.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.

2. Your school's accounts

• The school owner's account controls the school: it adds staff, sets their roles and is the only account that can pay.
• Each person must use their own account. Do not share passwords.
• You are responsible for what happens under your school's accounts. Remove staff who leave, and tell us straight away if you think an account has been misused.

3. What is free and what is paid

Free, with no time limit: setting up your school, adding students and staff, entering scores, reviewing results, viewing the dashboard and analytics, and previewing report cards. Previews carry a “PREVIEW” watermark.

Paid: publishing a term's results. Publishing sends WhatsApp messages to parents, opens the parent result page, and lets you download report cards without the watermark. You need an active subscription for that term before you can publish.

4. Prices

• Foundation: ₦300 per student per term, or ₦900 per student per year. A yearly payment covers all three terms of one academic session.
• Founder Schools: ₦700 per student per year, paid yearly only. This is for the first 20 schools we accept into the programme.

The amount is the price multiplied by the number of active students in your school when you make the payment. Lumio works this out for you and shows the total before you pay.

We may change prices for future terms or sessions. If we do, we will tell school owners at least 30 days before the new price applies. A change never affects a term or session you have already paid for.

5. Paying

• You can pay by card, bank transfer or USSD through Paystack, or by direct bank transfer to our account.
• Paystack payments switch on your subscription automatically once Paystack confirms them. Direct bank transfers switch on once we have confirmed the money has arrived.
• Refunds: if you paid but have not yet published that term's results, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of paying. Once results for a term have been published, that payment cannot be refunded.

6. Publishing results

When results are published, parents are told straight away and the results are locked. Published results cannot be unpublished or edited. This protects parents and the school, because everyone always sees exactly what the school approved.

Before publishing, the principal should review the scores. Lumio calculates totals, grades and positions from the scores and grading settings your school enters. The school is responsible for making sure those scores and settings are correct.

7. Your school's responsibilities

• Enter only data you have a lawful reason to hold. Where the law requires it, get consent from parents or guardians for their children's data.
• Keep parents' WhatsApp numbers correct, so results reach the right person.
• Tell parents and staff that the school uses Lumio School OS, for example in your admission forms or school policies.
• Deal with requests from parents and staff about their data. We will help you do this.

8. WhatsApp messages

We send result messages through our messaging provider (Termii) and WhatsApp. Delivery depends on these services and on the parent's phone and network, so we cannot promise that every message arrives. Lumio shows which messages were sent and which failed. The result link and the report card stay available even if a message does not arrive, so the school can share them another way.

9. Your data

Your school's data belongs to your school. We use it only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you stop paying, your data is not deleted. You can keep using the free features and publish again whenever you subscribe. You can ask us for a copy of your data at any time.

10. Fair use

You must not:

• use Lumio School OS for anything illegal, or to harass or mislead anyone,
• send messages to parents that are not about their child's school results,
• try to access another school's data, or test our security without our written permission,
• copy, resell or rent out the service to others,
• enter false results or information.

11. Suspension

We may suspend a school's access if it breaks these terms, if we suspect fraud, or if there is a risk to other schools' data or to the service. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. Suspension does not delete your data.

12. Keeping the service running

We work to keep Lumio School OS available and reliable. Sometimes we need to pause it briefly for maintenance. We will try to do this outside school hours and away from results periods, and to give notice where possible. We also keep improving the product, and features may change over time.

13. Limits of our responsibility

We provide Lumio School OS with care. However, as far as the law allows:

• we are not responsible for losses caused by wrong scores or settings entered by the school, or by services outside our control, such as internet providers, WhatsApp or Paystack,
• we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits or reputation,
• our total responsibility to a school is limited to the amount that school paid us in the 12 months before the problem happened.

Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be removed.

14. Ending your use

You can stop using Lumio School OS at any time and ask us to close your school's account. We will give you a copy of your data if you ask, then delete it as described in our Privacy Policy. We can end this agreement by giving you 30 days' notice, or straight away if you seriously break these terms. If we end it without a serious breach, we will refund any payment for a term you have not yet published.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will tell school owners at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If there is a disagreement, please talk to us first, and we will try hard to resolve it. If we cannot, the courts of Lagos State will decide.
